All workplace investigations and mediations vary. It is difficult to provide specific information on overall costs without due consideration to the initial Terms of Reference or Mediation Agreement. However, the following information provides an overview of some of the costs associated with undertaking both investigations and mediations.
Investigations, mediations and specialised services are charged at an hourly or daily rate.

Investigations
Workplace investigations activities include such activities as - administration, reviewing, scoping, analysis, reading, assessing, perusing, instruction activities, allocation,checks, research, registration, searched, preparation, collation, compoliling documentation, quality assurance, legal and similar activities, travel to and conducting interviews and obtaining statements, activities such as making appointments, investigation related telephone calls, correspindence with clients, report writing and photocopying of investigation materials.
Investigation activities and other costs will be itemised for the client.
Mediations
Full details of costs associated with undertaking mediations will be included in the initial 'Mediation Agreement' (eg. renting mediation rooms, cancellation costs etc).
Mediations usually involve a preliminary meeting or discussion with employers and participants as well the actual mediation session. Preliminary contact with participants may be made conducted through telephone contact initially. Although difficult to generalise, workplace mediations may take between 6-8 hours to finalise.
Additional travel, accomodation and meals expenses
Travel, accomodation and meal expenses (if required) will be agreed with the client prior to being undertaken. Any parking, tolls, air fares, airport taxes, taxi fares, rental car expenses and travel insurance will be billed at cost.
Specialist advice
Obtaining additional specialist or expert advice (eg. computer analysis, forensic examinations) or purchase of government reports, official certificates (eg.births, deaths, marriages) will incur additional costs. These activities however, will not be undertaken without the written consent of the Client. Terms Settlement is required within 14 days of the investigation or mediation having been completed. |
